MMI's Dashboards provide powerful data analysis capabilities through an intuitive interface. However, with dozens of dashboards and countless filtering options available, it's easy to get lost or create filter combinations that return no results. Understanding these fundamental navigation techniques will help you confidently explore any MMI dashboard, quickly recover from mistakes, and save your most valuable searches for future use.
Essential Dashboard Navigation Techniques
- Restoring Default Filters - If you've applied multiple filters and want to start fresh:
- Look for the back arrow button on the right-hand side panel
- Click "Restore Filters" to reset the dashboard to its default state
- Some dashboards also have a "Reset Filter" button at the top of the page
- Refreshing Individual Widgets - If a specific chart or data table isn't loading properly:
- Locate the small refresh icon within that widget (the individual box containing the chart or data)
- Click the refresh icon to reload just that widget without refreshing the entire dashboard
- This is especially helpful on complex dashboards where full page refreshes can be slow
- Selecting and Deselecting Filter Options - To focus on specific criteria:
- To view only one option: Unselect all items in the filter list, then select the single item you want
- To view multiple specific options: Click to select only the items you want (e.g., Silver, Gold, and Diamond tiers)
- To remove one option from view: Click on that item to deselect it while leaving others visible
- Deselected items appear faded/grayed out in the dashboard
- Using Value Range Filters - To find loan officers within specific numeric ranges (most commonly used for tenure):
- Locate the value filter you want to adjust (e.g., Company Tenure)
- Change the operator and value (e.g., "greater than or equal to 24" for 2+ years)
- Click "Add" to include additional criteria
- Add a second condition (e.g., "less than or equal to 60" for under 5 years)
- Alternatively, use "between 24 and 60" for the same result
- Important: Make sure "AND" is selected when using multiple conditions (not "OR")
- Sorting Data Tables - To organize results for strategic insights:
- Click any column header to sort by that field
- Click once for ascending order (smallest to largest, A to Z)
- Click again for descending order (largest to smallest, Z to A)
- Example: Sort "Last Month Revenue" ascending to find loan officers with declining production
- Bookmarking Your Searches - To save filter combinations for future use:
- Configure all your desired filters (state, production tier, tenure, etc.)
- Click the bookmark icon
- Name your search descriptively (e.g., "Silver & Gold, 2-5 Years Tenure")
- Save as a private bookmark
- Access saved searches anytime from your bookmarks menu to instantly restore those exact filters
Mastering these fundamental navigation techniques transforms the dashboard experience from potentially overwhelming to confidently manageable. With these skills at your fingertips, you'll spend less time wrestling with filters and more time acting on the insights your data reveals.
